''Coorg in Karnataka in South India is a beautiful hill resort. 252 kms from Bangalore and 1525 m above sea level lies Coorg, the district headquarters of Kodagu. Coorg or Kodagu(originally called Kodaimalenadu) means 'dense forest on steep hill'.
It is beautiful hill country most of which is between 3000 and 4000 feet high. The tallest mountain peak is around 6000 feet high. Also known as Kodagu, Coorg is famous for coffee plantations. The coffee estates here produce some of the world's best coffee.

With the above knowledge in climatic conditions of Coorg, it is easy to deduce that the time during October to April is the most enjoyed. However, that doesn’t stop people from coming here to see lush greenery which is trademark of rainy season.
PLACES AROUND COORG
Nagarhole National Park - Named after the river which flows through the park, it is a feat enjoyed by wildlife lovers and enthusiasts. Situated between Kodagu and Mysore, it combines with other two National Parks- Bandipur and Mudumalai to make largest Protected Area of south.
Abbi Falls - Other variations of this name are Abbey and Abby. The sight of the water taking plunge for a glorious fall is indeed worth.
Talacauvery - This forms the source of the river Kaveri. A perennial spring situated at a height of 4,500 ft is the beginning of this mighty river. It is 45 km from Madikeri and also offers a spectacular view.
Omkareshwar Temple - Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is among the oldest in the region built in 1820. While visiting the temple in November during a festival celebrated here, the combination of Gothic and Islamic structure is hard to miss.
Iruppu Falls - Also read as Irpu and Irupu, the fall has its origin in Brahamagiri as a stream of Lakshmana-Theertha River, coming down through the hill, later joining with River Cauvery. Area around has a famous temple as well as a Protected Area.
The Raja's Seat - This is a beautiful viewpoint in Coorg. This hilltop offers stunning views of the surrounding forests and the view of the sunset. It is said that the kings of Kodagu came to this viewpoint to see the panoramic view of their kingdom and spent their evenings.
Bhagamandala - It is situated at the confluence of 3 rivers (the Cauvery, the Kanika and the Sujyothi). It is famous for temples and is known as the temple town of this region. The temple here, built in Kerala style, has smaller shrines dedicated to various gods.
CLIMATE
With moderate climate the place is pleasant mostly throughout the year. Temperature is seen to be dipping to 11°C in winters, which stays from December to February. If 34°C is reached in March to May, the season is summer that still is pleasant by the standard of heats of Indian plains. Medium rainfalls from June to September are Monsoons of Coorg.
HOW TO REACH THERE
Air: The two airports, Mangalore and Bangalore are 136 Km and 260 Km respectively from Coorg, and it is not to mention that the latter one is better connected by rest of the India.
Rail: People taking the route of train, can come down to Mysore which is around only 114 Km from Coorg Hill Station.
Road: Well connected with Mysore, Mangalore and Bangalore by roads, Coorg holidays are often the intention of weekend trip.
